7:25-7:45 - Running program
7:45-8:00 - Opening, Routines
8:00-8:25 - Word Study
8:25-9:45 - Guided Reading and Literacy Stations
9:45-10:05 - Recess
10:05-10:25 - Shared Reading
10:25-10:45 - Independent Reading, Conferring
10:45-11:25 - Writer's Workshop
11:25 - Lunch/Recess
12:05-1:10 - Math
1:10-2:00 - Social Studies, Science, Health, Fine Arts, PE
2:00-2:15 - Read Aloud
2:15-2:20 - Closing, Dismissal

PE Prep: Wednesday 8:50-9:45
Computer/Library: Monday 8:00-8:45 (Alternating every other week)
Music: Every other Friday 1:30-2:20

*Please note that on days when we have PE, computer, library, and music, I adjust the schedule accordingly.
*On Wednesday, the literacy block is shortened, and we have math from 10:05-11:00.

Classroom Management

The following rules have been established in order to provide all children with a peaceful and productive environment:

• We raise our hands.
• We listen.
• We keep our hands, feet, and objects to ourselves.
• We are kind and respectful to others.
• We do our best work.

Your child will receive positive reinforcement and rewards for following the rules.  Each student who behaves appropriately with regard to classroom expectations will receive a daily star on his incentive chart.  Once the student has accumulated 25 stars, he will receive a prize from the prize box. 

A card system is used to monitor the students' behavior. The students start out on a green card, which means they are having a "great" day. If a child has not followed the rules, then he/she turns the card to yellow, which means an "ok" day. If the child continues to behave inappropriately, the card is turned to red. This means the child "needs improvement". The parent will be contacted through a note, email, or a phone call. The child starts over the next day on green. Students who finish the day on a green card receive a star on their incentive chart.

Star of the Week

Each child will have a chance to be the “Star of the Week”.  A poster will be sent home a week in advance. The poster needs to be filled out by the child (with parent's help). It should come back to school on the following Monday. The "Star of the Week" also gets special privileges in the classroom. You will be notified when it is your child's turn to be "Star of the Week".

P.E.

Room 6 will have P.E. every Wednesday.  Please be sure your child wears appropriate clothing and shoes.  Closed toed shoes are to be worn every day.

Computer/Library

On Mondays, Room 6 will alternate our visits to the library and computer lab.  The library book can be returned, as soon your child is finished with it.  There is a tub in the classroom to collect books.
